I'm springing!

We had some warm weather recently and it certainly put me in the mood for spring.  I can't believe the snow is all gone.  It melted quickly this year.
I finished the Taiyo Top and I like the fit, but I have to play with arranging the large cowl neck when I wear it.  The colorway is a bit out of my comfort zone, because I don't wear plain stripes except for Fair Isle work.  The Stone Walls vest is coming along nicely.  I'm working on the front section and I am less than an inch from the neck shaping.  I think the weather will stay cool enough for me to wear it.
29.03.10  I was able to wear my vest yesterday.  I love it--it's the perfect size and Rox took a photo of me wearing it and then one of me in the Taiyo Top.  It was a good day for projects from my students.  Mary wore her latest, and had another vest done, and then Melody, Judy, and Connie were wearing finished projects.  It's very satisfying to see the progress of each student and the pride they take with each finished project.
The last photo is of what I call Big B--it's my variation of the Baktus Scarf.  I had this skein of Mango Moon Bali.  It's a great size for warmer weather.
It's really feeling like Spring this week.  We're expecting temps in the 70s this week.  I may have to dig out my sandals this week--good thing I polished my toenails!

Let the sunshine in!

It's a lovely spring day and I see buds on the maple tree. I decided to take some time and sit outside with some knitting. I didn't change the lens on my camera, so I had to lean way back to get a photo of my project. My feet are in focus! Eevee enjoyed a bit of sun also.
I've gone back to the Kilimanjaro sweater. The pattern instructions were written strangely and it was just a simple matter of the wording. Of course it was easy to fix--too easy! Now I'm on a roll and it should be a quick knit.
Yesterday Jim got me some biking shoes and I'll use the clips on the spinning bike. I've always been a little hesitant to use clips in the past. We'll see.

Sign of Spring

While it may still be cold and snowy, I have a sure sign of Spring. A new bunny--meet Häschen. He's made of handspun I made over the weekend. In Hinkley is a small shop in a log cabin called Mother of All Fiber Crafts. The owner is so nice and I love to visit her shop. This was a particularly good visit, as I bought a giant flyer and bobbing for Louie! Wow, what a difference! I was able to easily ply continuously and easily. I spun and plied the gray from Joanne, and then I spun and plied the 2 oz. of dark brown batt from MAFC the owner gave me. I may be able to get another bunny or part of a basket out of the rest.
I also finished the lace scarf in time for a memorial tonight. It's so light and airy like an angel's kiss.
Angelika moved out today and Ben comes home tonight, so I have lots to do!

Spring?

This post would have made more sense yesterday. We had quite a lot of snow. It was so pretty when I took the photos, but is quickly melting...well, at least the most recent layer!
The clock vest is going fairly well. I have to get through the first couple of rows of the cables on the fronts and sides. Thank heaven for charts! That was the problem with the cardigan--written instructions for the cables. What a pain! When the pattern's established, then I'll post some photos.
The Sigi Freud design went over well at the high school, so some of the teachers will order one. B
en's German teacher wants me to design the German Club t-shirt for next year. This year's was a big hit. Just to let you know how much times have changed--his cigar got edited--I turned it into a pencil!

Easter snow

Nothing says Spring like a fresh coat of snow! I WILL wear the outfit I planned tomorrow! I may have to wear my heavy coat, though.
As you can see, the body and sleeves are now joined
. Naturally I don't like it--not the pattern, just the Lopi looks awful until it's blocked. I'll worry about that after I add the collar and bands. I'm sweating that because I'll probably have just enough of the with none to spare--I HOPE!
I'm baking a cake today to take over to Mom's tomorrow. I'll use half the lamb mold and make a sheet cake to put it on for a baaa-relief effect (PUN INTENDED!!). That's the plan, anyway.
Once I finish the cardigan, then I'll move on to the red cardigan. Then I'll start the one from Swallowtails. I've been sooo good about not buying any new yarn lately. It feels good to get projects finished that've been in the works for so long.
