Newsflash! WIPs turn into FOs! Making my way through the projects.

More finished objects.  Slowly but surely I am working through all the projects on the needles and not starting anything new, which is difficult.  I also finished spinning the Icelandic/Shetland blend and whatever I knit will be called Rollo after Andrea's sweet puppy.

The yarn is made from Black Cat Farmstead's Icelandic/Shetland blend.  

I finished the Beaded Beret.  It stayed on the needles far too long, but I enjoyed finishing it.  The project is perfect for trying out adding beads to knitting.  It is a shop sample so I may have to dig into the stash after I finish other projects to make one for spring.

Beaded Beret--The stippled colorway, Twyla Brae, of the Richard Devries yarn is named after a remote village in Scotland.  The beads can remind me of raindrops.

The Kaffecushion is sewn together and is at the shop.  The colors are so pretty and it is a good project to show off both the color and yarn.  Rowan Pure Wool Worsted is very nice to work with and the colors are just beautiful.

The cushion is 24" x 24" and propped against the little cupboard my father made for my sister the year I was born.  It is a piece of furniture I treasure.

Next is Greta, the fingering weight cardigan.  I joined the sleeves and the body last night.  It is a good thing the cable on the circular needle is long to
accommodate the 457 stitches!  I will scout out some buttons next time I am at the shop.  Photos will be posted when the yoke has progressed.

Last week I got an email from Blue Sky to do some sample work--not knitted--and I am excited to work on it.

Saturday was spin-in at Anoka Fiber Works.  We had a pretty big crowd and had to move the circle bigger.  I may not be buying yarn, but when I saw the gorgeous clouds from Linda, I could not resist.  I have the light art yarn spun from the batt I made while visiting Joanne in Texas and the colors would look good with the blue and white cloud.

Dark Side of the Moon, a blend of Cormo wool and ink blue silk noil.  It is not  finished yet, but I made good progress.

WIP Monday

I figure if I post this it will get finished.  Tangled (my name for it because of the yarn--the pattern is Kasuri Chanchanko) is finally back on the needles and in the last stages of finishing.  Once I finish the last seven rows of the inner font band/collar of the vest the armholes will be easy.

To the right of the red section is the purl ridge for turning.  I have to get the curled edge under control before I sew the band to the inside.

Greta is coming along.  The sleeves are ready and I cast on the 231 stitches for the body.  The K1 P1 rib is slow going with size US 2 needles.  I have three more rows of ribbing before I can go up to the size US 3 needles and work the stockinette stitch body.

Sleeves and the endless 1 by 1 rib on size 2's!  The yarn, Rowan Finest, is a dream to work with and the sweater will be gorgeous when it is finished.

Yesterday I cast on for the Timber Mittens.  Plymouth Homestead is a lovely wool yarn.  I chose gray, dark green, and light green for the sample.  The loop stitch is fun to work and when the mitten is finished it will get a haircut.  Buff mittens were worn by loggers and teamsters in the Adirondacks, Canada, and New England.

I took the mitten to knitting group today and now the mitten is ready for the thumb.    I think these would be great as sheep mittens!

Veil Nebula

I completed one WIP this week.  My go-to projects seem to be scarves.  The yarn for Veil Nebula (Kwoosh) was too difficult to resist.  Adding the crocheted edging was a nice touch.  I like the olive drab green with the Post Apocalypse colorway.  The green matches, although in the photos it does not appear to match.

WIPs

Works in progress (WIPs)--a constant for me!  I am currently working on shop samples.  After a couple of hiccups with Jane's Tunic, I am almost finished with one side.  There is a concern about the amount of yarn (5 hanks) being enough to finish, but I will soldier on and maybe hold a hank back just in case.  I love knitting with the linen.  The drape is lovely.  Next is the Pine Bough Cowl.  HiKoo Kenzie (merino/nylon/angora/alpaca/silk noils) makes knitting a breeze--plus knitting in the round traps the long floats on the wrong side of the fabric.  The yarn is soft and the colors beautiful.  The yarn rep was at the shop recently and had a washed and blocked swatch--oh my goodness, it was so soft!  There is not a large range of colors, but the colors available are wonderful.

As for the other WIPs and UFOs, they are anxiously waiting in their bags!

My Kori vest vault squares are helping me pin the Lopi cardigan WIP! I thought I'd have it done last night, but it didn't go as planned...just like the French in the men's 4 x 100 relay. That cardigan's goin' down today--au revoir! (Insert primal scream here.)
The other projects will probably be tackled during the track and field events.
